Last month, Bob Weir, along with the rest of the music world, was saddened to hear that David Nelson has been diagnosed with colon cancer. To focus fully on treatment and healing, David will be missing his upcoming tour dates with the David Nelson Band. We’re all very hopeful and supportive of David’s fight – “I’m in good hands,” Nelson wrote on his website, “and looking forward to playing with the boys and seeing you all again in the not too distant future.”
Bob was happy to step in for his long-time friend on DNB’s sold out three-night run this week in Girdwood, Alaska. As history, Nelson co-founded “New Riders of the Purple Sage” with Jerry Garcia back in the early ‘60s. Bob will join DNB members Barry Sless, Pete Sears, Mookie Siegel and John Molo, along with Katie Skene. They perform March 16th–18th at the Sitzmark at the Alyeska Resort.
